How to Troubleshoot HP Deskjet 895 Printer Problems


Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, the Hewlett-Packard Company is the largest IT company in the world. Fortune magazine ranked the international computer and office product manufacturer number 9 on its 2009 Fortune 500 list. HP debuted the DeskJet, the first mass-market inkjet printer, in 1988 and continues to sell it in 2010. The HP DeskJet Series 895 printer was released in 1999, and as of 2010 was no longer made by HP.

Instructions

Check that all printer cables are plugged in and connected securely. Open the HP DeskJet Toolbox program on your computer and click the "Printer Services" tab. Click the "Test the printer communications" button to make sure the computer and printer are properly communicating.

Make sure the HP DeskJet 895 is set as your default printer. Open the HP DeskJet Toolbox and choose the "Troubleshooting" tab. Click "A blank page came out," then "Wrong printer selected." Choose the HP 895 as your default printer.

HP inkjet cartridges need to be cleaned regularly. Open the HP DeskJet Toolbox. Choose the "Printer Services" tab then click "Clean print cartridges."

If the printing isn't aligning correctly on the page, realign the print heads. Open the HP DeskJet Toolbox and select the "Printer Services" tab. click on "Align the print cartridges."

If paper is jammed in the printer and you can't reach it, remove the rear access door. Rotate the knob on the rear of the printer counter clockwise for 1/4 turn. Remove the door. Remove the jammed paper. Replace the door. Hit "Resume" on the printer's front control panel.

If paper is sticking together as it comes out of the printer, remove the blank paper from the paper tray. Fan the stack to loosen the sheets and reload.
